Desde el Barclays Center de Nueva York, los Video Music Awards 2021, presentados por Doja Cat, reunieron a los fans de todo el mundo para celebrar el regreso del entretenimiento en vivo; Alicia Keys, quien debutó con su nuevo single «LaLa», y Madonna, quien fue la encargada de inaugurar la entrega de premios además de las actuaciones de Justin Bieber, Ed Sheran, Alicia Keys y Olivia Rodrigo y por supuesto Foo Fighters.

Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X y BTS se convirtieron en los ganadores de la noche, coronándose con tres premios cada uno, seguidos de Justin Bieber, Doja Cat y Billie Eilish. Si os quedasteis con ganas de más, podréis volver a disfrutar del show tanto hoy a las 23:50 como el sábado 18 de septiembre a las 17:55 en MTV, y el sábado 25 de septiembre a las 21:00 en el canal MTV Originals de Pluto TV.

Pero como no podía ser de otra manera, el gran momento de la noche fue la entrega del premio «Icono Global» a Foo Fighters, por haber dejado una huella imborrable en la música. La banda americana liderada por Dave Grohl subió al escenario para interpretar grandes clásicos de la banda como «Learn to Fly» y «Everlong», así como su sencillo «Shame Shame» de su último trabajo hasta la fecha «Medicine at Midnight». Además quisieron homenajear el recientemente fallecido baterista de los Rolling Stones, Charlie Watts con el mensaje «Charlie RIP», escrito en la batería de Taylor Hawkins.
